It is difficult to go anywhere by walk if you want to take the alternative means of transport in the centre of Malta. Yet private property stays private property and that is the main problem in expanding the roads for biking tracks and creating green areas.

Its always a good experience though to go for a walk strolling round one way roads and sometimes also deadends one discoveres many new things a locaclity may service.

With regards to the metropolis… As I know it they still dont have a permit to build much in there what they had was a permit to tear down the old building. Something like they have in Italy would make money here, A condono where a person can build a building before the permit comes out but he has to pay for each square meter a given amount. That would make a huge sum of money with all those floors. But the good thing about a condono is that there is a legal system through which one can go through the bureaucracy and get things done fast. always at a price.

Thanks for the transperant follow up Henrik. I was wondering after coming back in Poland where consumer rights stood with regards to mobile service. Since over there I would recieve the amount paid for each call I made after the actual call took place.

It is true, while major companies and banks publish their financials periodically in the media, one can not find anything about Enemalta, Malta Shipyards and other government companies.

Duing my first year of studies I tried looking up the financial statements for Enemalta also and not even those were available at the time they were I think 2 years behind from publication. It might be that the information was kept out of the way before elections….. but now even that is a long way behind us.

Fantastic research.
Somehow I feel that the government’s incentives on buying PVC had only one intention: to give the illusion that it was going green…….now we have proof that it really went greedy!

The cost of photovoltaic energy are recovered on a much longer period in Malta compared for example to Germany as the purchase back price of the electricity by Enemalta is much lower than in Germany.

I always wants to compare the local market with the foreign one. Now its all uncovered and clear. Thanks for the information. Now I have what to tell my EU friends when they ask me “why don’t you use the sun?”

PS. A new efficiency rate on Photovoltaics has been achieved by the American National agency on research. It is at present 40.8%.

Also when would the cost of the photovoltaics be recoered with the maltese price when compared with the German prices.

It is a truly large project for the Maltese community considering the area it will cover. And it will definitely bring a lot of wealth if all goes by plan. What disturbes me is that there could have been clauses on the form of a site specific Eco-tax which would openly fund eco-investment plans by the goverment. This way a cycle of investment pro-enviornmnet would start off.

But the main idea of the project is the regeneration of a depressed region and future investment. I doubt the first points is really true because the way the palce has been planned is almost self-sustaining and anyone going anywhere from there would rather go valletta or sliema other than the dilapidated areas of bormla or the south of malta.

Mepa has become synonymous with inefficiency because whenever Mepa is mentioned in the media it’s never to report good things!
